Running SimpleHelp alongside Apache or IIS

SimpleHelp, like IIS or Apache, is server software that requires its own unique IP and Port combination to bind to. In order to run SimpleHelp on the same hosting operating system as IIS or Apache, one of the following must hold:

  • SimpleHelp and IIS/Apache must run on different ports.
  • SimpleHelp and IIS/Apache can run on the same ports, but on different IP addresses.

SimpleHelp utilises a mixture of UDP, TCP and HTTP(S) to transport data between the remote machine and technician. For these reasons we do not suggest or support having any web server proxy data to or from SimpleHelp, since this restricts the protocols SimpleHelp can use and results in a poorer support experience.
